Devices & networks

Your sensors and connected devices, together in one portal

Temperature probes, meters, detectors, GPS trackers: your devices can come from different manufacturers and use different networks. As long as their model is supported, Telemesure translates their messages and everything comes into the same portal.

Illustration: a temperature probe, a door contact, an air-quality sensor, a tank-level sensor and a truck’s tracker send their messages over LoRaWAN, Sigfox, the Internet or 4G / LTE-M. Telemesure translates them and brings all the readings together in one place, in your portal, on computer and on phone. What you can connect

The device families already supported

Here are the main families of devices that Telemesure can already read. Support is model by model: we always check yours before recommending it.

  • Temperature & humidity

Ambient sensors for your premises, or sensors with a remote probe to measure inside a cold room, a freezer or a display cabinet.

  • Doors & water leaks

    A door opening, a shock or a tip-over, water on the floor, or a machine’s on/off status.

  • Air quality

CO₂, volatile organic compounds, fine particles, formaldehyde or ozone indoors, weather stations outdoors.

  • Energy & meters

Electricity meters, current clamps and pulse counters, to read water, gas or electricity remotely.

  • Tank levels

The level of your tanks, measured by ultrasound, by laser or by an industrial probe (4-20 mA, the standard for factory sensors).

  • GPS & trackers

Trackers for vehicles, machinery and objects. Depending on the model and the network, a position can also be obtained via Wi-Fi or via the network, without GPS.

  • Buttons & alarms

Call or alert buttons, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. On buttons that allow it, you choose who to notify each time the button is pressed.

  • Technical cabinets & locks

Mains power, backup batteries, ventilation and door openings. Connected locks, with dedicated hardware.

  • Presence & occupancy

Presence in a room, people counting, occupancy of meeting rooms or parking spaces.

  • Soil & irrigation

Soil moisture and irrigation controllers, for your crops, your greenhouses or your green spaces.

  • Your devices, via the Internet

Any device or software that can send its data over the web can be connected, even if it is custom-built. We set up the connection with you.

And also: noise level, pump temperatures and vibrations, network coverage testers… Have a specific device in mind? We’ll look into connecting it.

The networks

The right network for each site

A sensor sends its readings by radio, over the mobile network or over the Internet. The right choice depends on the location (indoors, outdoors, remote area), the amount of data to send and how the device is powered. We help you choose.

  • LoRaWAN

A long-range, very energy-efficient radio network designed for sensors. There are two ways to use it: an operator’s network, depending on coverage and the contracts available, or a private gateway (antenna) on your site.

Suited to: battery-powered sensors in buildings, warehouses or large sites.

  • Sigfox

A radio network for small messages, very energy-efficient. The sensor can also receive a short message in return and, depending on the network, be located approximately without GPS.

Suited to: sensors that send little data, such as an alarm, a level or a meter reading.

  • 4G / LTE-M mobile network

With a SIM card dedicated to connected devices. LTE-M is a version of 4G designed for them. Depending on the SIM card, the portal also shows data usage.

Suited to: GPS trackers, vehicles and devices that send more data.

  • Internet

Any device or software that can send its data over the web. For some manufacturers that have their own online service, Telemesure fetches the readings directly from that service.

Suited to: devices already connected to your IT network, and your custom developments.

  • Satellite

A satellite link is possible for areas with no coverage at all.

Suited to: remote sites, far from any network.

  • MQTT

A standard protocol for exchanging messages between connected devices and servers. Connection via MQTT is possible.

Suited to: industrial equipment and gateways that already use it.

Both ways. Depending on the network and the model, Telemesure can also send commands to your connected devices: change how often they send data, switch equipment on or off. The command goes out the next time the device makes contact. Not all devices can be controlled remotely.

Private LoRaWAN

Poor coverage on site? A gateway right where you need it

A basement, a cold room deep inside a building, a remote site: if radio coverage is not enough, a private LoRaWAN gateway (antenna) can be installed on your site. It sends the readings straight to Telemesure.

  • Radio coverage where your sensors are
  • The connection status of each gateway, visible in your portal
  • The readings arrive in the same portal as your other devices
Illustration: a private LoRaWAN gateway, installed on the roof of a warehouse, picks up the sensors in the cold room, on the loading dock and in the basement, then relays their readings to Telemesure: they arrive in your portal.

Many brands, one portal

Every sensor speaks its own language. Telemesure translates it.

Each manufacturer encodes its devices’ messages in its own way. For every supported model, Telemesure automatically translates them into readable values: degrees, percentages, a door open or closed, a position.

Your devices

All your devices in the same list

A LoRaWAN probe, a 4G tracker and a technical cabinet sit side by side, each with its status and its last transmission. You can see straight away which ones are sending their data properly.

  • Set-up with the product’s activation code, entered in the portal or in the mobile app
  • Silent devices flagged: nothing received for 24 hours, or ever
  • The battery level, for devices that report it

Your device isn’t on the list?

We look into connecting it with you

Already have sensors, or a specific device in mind? Tell us about it. We check whether it is already supported, or what it takes to connect it.

  1. You describe it to us

The make, the model, the network it uses and, if you have it, the manufacturer’s documentation.

  2. We check

Whether it is already supported, or what it takes to connect it: translating its messages, the network, the set-up.

  3. We get back to you

We tell you what to plan for. Once connected, the device joins your portal like all the others.

Your data, into your tools

Your readings, in your own software too

The readings, already translated into readable values, don’t stay locked away in the portal. They can automatically feed your own tools, or be exported whenever you need them.

On the left, a real value card from the portal: the latest reading from a cold room, already translated (demo data)
  • Automatic sending of readings

Each device can forward its readings, already translated, to your software’s web address: building management system (BMS), maintenance management software (CMMS), business management software (ERP)… with whatever authentication your software requires.

Only readings are sent, not alerts.

  • A documented API

An API is an entry point that lets one piece of software talk to another. The administrator creates access keys for your IT teams. With them, they read the list of devices, their readings and their latest values, and queue commands to be sent to the devices.

Interactive documentation is built into the portal.

  • Spreadsheet export

You choose a period and a device, or several devices in the same export. The CSV file, which opens in your spreadsheet software, is prepared, then a download link arrives by email.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about sensors and networks

I already have sensors. Can they be connected to Telemesure?

If their model is already supported, yes: they join your portal like all the others. If not, tell us about them: we look into connecting them with you and tell you what to plan for.

Which network should I choose for my site?

It depends on the location (indoors, outdoors, remote area), the amount of data to send and how the device is powered. For battery-powered sensors, LoRaWAN or Sigfox are often a good fit, and for vehicles, the mobile network. We discuss it with you when we look at your needs.

My site has poor coverage. What can I do?

A private LoRaWAN gateway (antenna) can be installed on your site: you can check its connection status in your portal. For areas with no coverage at all, a satellite link is possible.

How does a new device appear in my account?

Every product supplied carries an activation code. You enter it in the portal or in the mobile app, and the device appears in your account.

Can devices be controlled remotely?

For some devices, yes: Telemesure can change how often they send data, schedule how they run, or switch equipment on or off. The command goes out the next time the device makes contact. It depends on the network and the model: not all devices can be controlled remotely.

Can alerts be sent to our software?

Automatic sending to your software covers readings. Alerts, on the other hand, notify the people you choose, by email, text message (SMS), voice call or push notification, depending on the alert’s severity and the time slots you have set.
